Private Endocrinologist in Surrey and South London
Dr Mamta Joshi | Consultant Endocrinologist | Spire St Anthony's Hospital, Cheam
Written by Dr Mamta Joshi, Consultant Endocrinologist — reviewed October 2026
If you have been waiting for answers about a hormone or endocrine condition — and feeling that a standard GP appointment has not taken you far enough — a private endocrinology consultation can give you the specialist-level assessment your situation may need.
Dr Mamta Joshi is a Consultant Endocrinologist based at Spire St Anthony's Hospital in Cheam, Surrey, seeing patients from across Surrey and South London. Her practice, ManageThyHormone, is built around a thorough, evidence-based approach: understanding the root causes of your symptoms, not just managing individual complaints in isolation.
What is an endocrinologist?
An endocrinologist is a specialist in the hormonal and endocrine systems — the network of glands and hormones that regulate how your body functions day to day. This includes the thyroid gland, adrenal glands, pituitary gland, pancreas, ovaries, and the hormones they produce, including insulin, cortisol, thyroid hormones, and reproductive hormones.
Hormonal conditions can affect almost every aspect of how you feel: your energy, weight, menstrual cycle, mood, skin, hair, bone health, and fertility, among others. Because hormones interact closely with one another, understanding what is happening often requires specialist investigation rather than a one-off test.
An endocrinologist has the training to look at the full picture — how different hormones interact, what specialist investigations are appropriate, and what the findings mean for your long-term health.
Conditions Dr Joshi treats

4. Adrenal, pituitary, and rarer endocrine conditions

5. Diabetes and endocrine involvement
Type 2 diabetes with metabolic complexity, insulin resistance-related diabetes risk, and cases where endocrine factors require specialist assessment alongside diabetes management.
Why choose a private endocrinology consultation?
NHS endocrinology is excellent, but waiting times for a first appointment can be long, and the time available in a clinic appointment is often limited. Patients who are dealing with complex, overlapping, or hard-to-diagnose hormonal conditions sometimes find that a private consultation gives them more time to discuss their history, a broader range of specialist investigations, and a clearer explanation of what the findings mean for them.
Private care does not replace your NHS GP or specialist — it sits alongside it. Many patients bring their private consultation report back to their GP, which can also support onward NHS referrals where needed.
A private consultation with Dr Joshi is not a shortcut. It is a thorough, evidence-based specialist assessment that gives you the information you need to make informed decisions about your health.
What to expect at your consultation
At your first appointment with Dr Joshi, you can expect:
-
A full review of your symptoms, medical history, and any previous investigations or test results
-
A clear discussion of your concerns and what you are hoping to understand
-
Consideration of appropriate specialist blood tests and, where relevant, imaging
-
An explanation of what the investigations involve and what they are looking for
-
A follow-up consultation to discuss findings and the management options available to you
Appointments take place at Spire St Anthony's Hospital in Cheam, Surrey. Dr Joshi is also expanding her practice to cover South London, so please contact the practice if you would like to discuss an appointment closer to your location.
No treatment is started without a full clinical assessment. Dr Joshi's approach is to give you the clearest possible picture of what is happening and what your options are — the decisions are yours.
